On 8th of June 2009, Arun, Ashok, Jo-anne, Sao Lee and I took a break to Barcelona!

On the first day, we decided we should walk to La Ramblas, so that we can view a few of Gaudi's work on the way:

and a stop at Zara :) (Zara's not that much cheaper in Spain)

And we reached La Ramblas the famous street in Barcelona (kinda reminds me of the cleaner and more modern version of petaling street)!

and we went to this market that sells fruits cheaper than what we get at uk

Random Trip to Penang Part 2: The Company

I have been MIA due to examinations. Finished my 2nd paper today, had my first on Monday. Screwed up first paper and missed a chance to score 90 in today paper =.= aih I'm just to used to last minute study zzz

Anyways, I do not intend this post to rue my missed chances. Here's the second part of my Random Penang Trip post:

I went over to Hafriz's place at 2am because I was too lazy too wake up early in the morning, get stucked in the traffic and drive to his house. Watched Man U tapau ARSEnal with Hafriz and Jieqiang before heading to bed hehehe

We set off when See Tho arrived at 9am. Hafriz was the chauffeur of the trip XD

The people who went with me. Clockwise: Jieqiang, See Tho, Iu Tjun(with See Tho) and Hafriz.

After a much needed brunch at Bidor, we arrived at Penang about 2 hours later and met up with Iu Tjun, who stays in Penang. It was damn funny when we were all making our regular stop at Tesco's toilet. See Tho had already unzipped his pants with his weiner out when Hafriz was approaching him. All of the sudden See Tho muttered a random and misleading question to Hafriz, "Damn short, right?". Hafriz gave a shocked look and I immediately burst into laughter. See Tho ws actually referring to the position of the cubicle LOL

Iu Tjun is one pure Penangite I tell you, drive super fast although he knows we're tailgating him =.= Driving a huge car on small roads with motocyclist and pedestrian doesn't help even with drivers of Hafriz's calibre.

Iu Tjun then brought us to our "playground" after lunch.

Went to Iu Tjun's condo and chill before going out for our next plan. Thanks Iu Tjun for letting us stay over =)

Snapped this before heading out for dinner and "jalan-jalan" at Gurney Drive.

While I was shooting this, I didn't realise that the others have left for the lift. I hastily left and right after I entered the lift, Hafriz said this to me, "Actually, we thought of leaving you there wan but I saw the 'Jangan buang sampah(No Littering)' sign so we can't leave you there." *Everyone bursts into laughter*. FML.

Watched X-Men Origins: Wolverine at midnight. We went drinking by the beach area near Iu Tjun's condo. Bought a bottle of "Kwai Fei", some lychee flavoured alcoholic drink earlier in Tesco.

The host GG-ed just after 3 cups of "Kwai Fei" + mixers.

Shot this at the beach on a 30 seconds exposure.

Went to mamak because Iu Tjun was not feeling too well. Had to make him eat to make him feel better. We were all hungry at that time anyways.

Left Penang the next day after lunch at Lorong Selamat. Didn't realyl do much. Short trip but super fun and humuorous trip. Spent damn a lot though, damn painful =(

Random Trip to Penang Part 1: The Food

Went to Penang last Thursday. It was a very random trip. Don't exactly know who mentioned it but I got surprised when See Tho and Hafriz asked me whether i wanted to join them for this trip a week before. I was in a short dilemma because my first paper is on the 11th and study week isn't exactly a good time to go for trips. I was stuck in my trains of thoughts for a while and I was ready to reject the offer until the thought of graduating came across my mind. If I don't join them for this trip, I may not be able to join them again in the same trip anymore especially when I'm working. I agreed on the spot.

I'm not the type who would miss any fun stuff, unless I'm not really, really not into it.

I went to Hafriz's house the night before to stay over and watch Manchester United's Champions League match against ARSEnal, which they won 1-0 =P It's a pity that they couldn't score more =(

We set off at 9am, stopping by at Bidor for brunch. We ate at Pun Chun, a chinese kopitiam which apparently quite famous, I think.

The Dried Wan Tan Mee Hafriz See Tho and Jieqiang ordered.

I ate the Curry Chicken Wan Tan Mee.

We reached Penang at about 2pm. Met up at Iu Tjun at Tesco. He then brought us to New World Park for lunch.

Prawn Mee. They call it Hokkien Mee in penang

Rojak Pasembur in Penang is very different from the rojak you get in KL. They have much more variety of stuff which you can add yourself. It is like the Lobak you see in kopitiams here.

According to Iu Tjun, this is the Chinese version of Rojak. Tasted slightly more sour than the one above.

We went Gurney Drive for dinner. According to my sister, the prices went up a lot because it was a tourist attraction. Well, in fact, a lot of food places in Penang were more expensive than KL by almost double. Only the locals know where to eat cheap and good food. Didn't take food photos because we were hungry and it wasn't that fantastic. We don't know which stores are good unfortunately :( I ordered Pasembur again and Char Kueh Teow. pasembur was quite good but the Char Kueh Teow was average.

We went to Lorong Selamat the next day for lunch. I suggested that place because I heard that there's a nice Char Kueh Teow place there. The other famous Char Kueh Teow is the Sister's Char Kueh Teow at Jalan McCallister, which I ate the last time I was in Penang.

We ordered the large portion because we were hungry. As expected the portion was smaller than we normally expect in KL, it is probably slightly larger the the regular size we get here in KL. The prawns were huge though!! Fresh as well. Guess how much it cost? RM8.50. Yes, for a plate of Char Kueh Teow and we waited more than half an hour for it. That's how famous this stall is.

This is the Nasi Lemak Goreng. Ate this for dinner before heading home.

Whoops!!! That's not on Penang hahahaha We ate that at Bandar Menjalara, Kepong. FYI, you can get it in a mamak called Spicy Kitchen if you have the burning urge to try it. Seriously, Spicy Kitchen sounded like some fancy restaurant when it is just a mamak stall. Swt man....

Hey people! Time flies pretty fast,it's already mid January of 2009.. How's everyone doing?

Term has started for everyone of us here in UK i guess.. Tear 3 term 2,I believe most of us are/will be really busy this term.. Hope things will go well for all of us!

Notts people,still having exam right? Good luck and all the best to you guys in the remaining papers!

While the Aussie gang should be all enjoying your summer holidays now,except Keat Wei who is studying at Rome for a month now.. Oh well,enjoy the most of your holidays then! It's precious! I am missing holidays already!! haha..

And for the rest of the PE1-ians who's at elsewhere around the world,hope you all are doing good too!

Ok,back to topic! Firstly,I apologize for this late update,final year term 2 has been really busy so far. Tonnes of applications, assignments and revisions to awaiting me to do >_<

So,actually this post is suppose to be about my 21st birthday (present).. 4th of Jan falls on the day before my term starts,which means I did not have a chance to celebrate with any of you back in Malaysia. However,things turned out like this:

1st Jan 2009,2/3pm - *Phone rings* Zhao:"Yo! CC mou?". I met them (Zhao, Shaun, Wai Ken) up at the CC. Played the usual shooting games for the noon. Wai Ken left before dinner. 8pm - The remaining 3 of us drove around Uptown to look for food. Zhao and Shaun were asking each other "where is 'the thing'?" for a while just before we decided to dine in at some "famous hokkien mee" shop. They only told me 'the thing' is a present.

Zhao parked the car, opened the car boot as usual. Shaun picked up a small paper bag, ensured the content is in place, and passed it to me. "Happy Birthday man!" from both of them. A surprise, a pair of early birthday greetings, and a bag of presents. Thanks a lot people! =)

We headed for dinner after that,the food were quite good.. Went for movie later at night,watched "The Spirit", no comment, lol.. headed back after that..

3rd Jan 2009,9pm - Flew off to Bangkok. 11+pm - Landed at Bangkok. Received quite some greetings at 12am on msn. Received a lovely animated e-card too via email..

4th Jan 2009, 7am - Landed at London. 12.30pm - Reached home at Warwick. Found a birthday card outside my room, it's from a high school good friend. A while later, a knock on the door and then a birthday song by my housemates and the friend. They were carrying a self-baked oreo cheese cake. And this wraps up my tiny 21st birthday celebration. Had a good day after the long journey, both lunch and dinner that day were prepared by my housemates and friend.

Zhao's 21st at Genting

The events leading up to our dear friend's 21st were absolutely hilarious. We were caught in the infamous KL traffic jam (again) and were almost late for our bus to Genting. We made a mad dash for KL Sentral, with a puzzled Zhao wondering, "Why on earth are you guys walking so fast?!?!?!"

Next funniest thing must have been his priceless expression when Shaun grabbed his only jacket and subjected it to running tap water. Over dinner, we had quite a bit of fun talking about how we would enjoy the cold outdoors later. xD

It was not even cold in Genting! Haha but finally, we handed him the brand-new adidas sweater. But of course the surprise didn't stop there.

"Zhao, take off your shirt and lie on that rock."

"Zhao, go stand on top of that statue."

"Zhao, go sit in front of that couple and smile at them till they walk away."

So he sat in front of this couple, whereby the girl was supposedly pretty but fierce. But aiyaaah, he didn't smile and keep quiet. He just told them the whole story. =S

Next, we went to Starbucks for his 12am celebration.

Shaun: You should trust Jessy and Han Hui, the two people right beside you.

Haha! Did you notice Han Hui's actions before Zhao even put his face down and how Jessy used both her hands? =p

Taman Negara (15 -17th Dec 2008)

So, we decided to go to our very own National Park, something different from the usual beaches, island or city. We had good weather all three days and it was really cooling in the park. Though rather short I think we had done all we could considering our urbanised selfs. ( I don't think we would be very up to actually camping in the jungle, living amongst mosquitoes and leeches, trekking further into the depths of the jungle, having to survive without a proper toilet and air-conditioning, etc etc..haha!)

Random facts:
1) Shaun who planned the trip and talked about it since 2 months ago in London fell sick the day before and couldn't make it.
2) We were the only Malaysians adventurous enough to explore our National Park - it houses the oldest rainforest in this world.
3) Zhao is a skinny tree trunk.
4) Jessy brought enough salt to drown leeches. Haha! But none of us were attacked by leeches.
5) We didn't see any wild animals. :s unless u count the distant silhouette of a flying hornbill, insects, or cows.

Bath Trip

Langkawi Trip in September

The original planned date for the trip was from the 18th to the 21th of September 08. Some of you guys can't make it to the trip during that time. Thus we're proposing a newer date - bringing the trip forward to the 6th-7th weekend of September 08. It could be for 2 to 3 days. This might be more appropriate as the people who are currently in US and will start their Nott studying term soon might not be able to join this trip originally. With an earlier trip, we can perhaps have another short trip later in September - maybe to somewhere nearby and more convenient.

There is no change to the package that we're taking - you can have a look at the link below.

As for the itinerary, it will only be a short trip - so I'll just leave it to your creativity. The trip is still very on - there will be cameras and pictures and alcohols and lots of fun. Hope you guys can join this trip.

Once again - please reply to confirm your attendance via commenting - I think it is the easiest way to communicate with each other. I would do it through facebook otherwise but that would just make this blog redundant - so let's not let that happen.

Let's have fun again! - PE1 goes to Langkawi and gets high trip- hehe

Hey guys. This will be the plan for September 08. I'm not quite sure of the exact date but here's the plan so far.

The trip will be to Langkawi Island. It's not to the initially suggested place, which is Laguna@Redang because the rates there were pretty expensive. Anyways - the rates here is pretty reasonable.

It's at Langkasuka Beach Resort in Langkawi (rated no.4 best resort in Langkawi). Me and Zhao have personally spent 2 nights there. For me, I thought that it was a nice place and with a private beach - it's definately a good place to go.

Me and Saolee thought that the Car package would be most useful as we would need a car to get around the island. It would be about RM235 a night for 4 person and this is inclusive of a 10 percent refundable deposit and the car, of course.

What do you think about this trip proposal? Hope you guys would join in the fun. I plan to get very drunk on the first night. Hehehehe

Hello everyone！Since I am bored from studying and the weather is miserably cold (and it's supposed to be spring.....) I shall post something. 　

Here's a picture from the New Year Countdown last Dec. We went to The Curve, but had to drive off before 12 am to avoid getting stuck in the complex.

After watching fireworks, we went to Ren Yin's house. Zhao....what a pose. Lol.

I went to Ireland recently, and here's a picture from St. Stephen's Green, a public park in the city center of Dublin.

I also went to the Guinness Storehouse, the core of which is a giant pint glass, which, if filled, can hold approximately 14.3 million pints of GUINNESS®!

Here's a view of the city from The Gravity Bar, which is located at the highest floor of the building, where each visitor can take 1 pint of Guinness and enjoy the view of the city...

This is UCD (University College Dublin), where my friend is studying. The campus is really big and nice. And this huge egg is located right outside the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.....
　

This is Temple Bar, a famous place in the city center where many bars play traditional Irish music at night. Nice atmosphere.

Lastly, this is the statue of Molly Malone, one of the most familiar symbols of Dublin. If you are wondering who she is, she was supposedly a beautiful and busty fishmonger (some said she was a prostitute by night) who finally died of typhoid fever. She is the heroine of the unofficial anthem for Dublin, ‘Cockles and Mussels'.

This picture is so blur because when I was taking it groups of people from left and right actually stopped for me. Haha I mumbled apologies after that. But oh well my friend said that Dublin is a laid-back city...

this is totally random but since the blog is sooo unactive, might as well update it abit :)

here is a recipe for mochi (daifuku), the sweet japanese cake.

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup shiratama-ko (glutinous rice flour)
1/4 cup sugar
2/3 cup water
*For filling
2/3 cup water & 1 cup sugar & 1/2 cup dried anko powder, or 1 1/4 cup premade anko ( red bean paste)

could be replaced by ice cream as well i think
*katakuriko (potato starch) for dusting
PREPARATION:
Heat 2/3 cup of water and 1/2 cup of sugar in a small pot. Add 1/4 cup of anko powder and stir well. Cool the anko filling. Make 12 small anko balls and set aside. Put water and sugar in a heat-resistant bowl and mix well.

Add shiratama-ko flour in the bowl and mix well. Put the bowl in microwave and heat the dough for two minutes. Stir the dough. Heat the dough in microwave until the dough inflates. Stir the mochi quickly. Dust a flat pan with some katakuri-ko starch. Also, dust hands with some katakuri-ko. Remove the hot mochi from the bowl to the pan by hands. Dust hands with more katakuri-ko starch and divide the mochi into 12 pieces by hands. The mochi is hot and sticky, so be careful not to burn your hands. Make 12 flat and round mochi. Put a piece of anko filling on a mochi and wrap the anko by stretching mochi. Rounds the daifuku. Repeat the process to make daifuku cakes. *Makes 12 daifuku.

Ren Yin,See Tho and I visited cambridge during the past 2 days.. It was a 2 days 1 night trip,but it was definitely a great one =)

We spent most of the time visiting around the colleges and chit-chatting.. Most of them staying there have a nice room for this second year =P We went punting too,haha,it's quite a good experience to punt ourselves :) Again,we played card games at night at Jo's place,an unhealthy and funny game...lolz XD We played table tennis too on sunday morning before we leave in the noon..

Special thanks to Jo who made us a very very nice dinner almost all by her alone.. It's really a very great meal :) Also thanks alot for sacrificing alot of your time and activities to bring us to visit around cambridge.. So sorry for making you late for lion dance practice too >_< Also thanks alot to Shirley,Arun and Ashok who also spent alot of time to bring us around.. It was really a great mini pe1 gathering in cambridge =) Thanks people!!

Erm...tired of seeing this blog dead for so long already >.< here's an update~

Well,I'm back to warwick already since a couple of weeks ago.. Was busy settling down in the new house during the past 2 weeks - clean the house,apply internet connection,buy stuff,lectures,assignments,etc etc.. Anyways,life is great back here!! Though there are more and more assignments piling up...but still,life is great here =P Currently I'm staying off-campus,together with 3 of my friends (2 of them were my high school classmates) in a 4 roomed terrace house,with a kitchen,a living + dining room,a bathroom + toilet,and a back yard.. Since we are the 1st batch of student who rent this house,most of the things are still new,so...it's good!! =) Haha...and it's around 10-15minutes walk to my department,which is not too far.. Overall,it's a good place to stay in~ I took the remaining 1 room after letting the 3 of them chose the rooms they want,so...i get the small room upstairs.. below are some photos of my room..

My bed,colourful eh? lols... That's the only decent looking pattern i manage to find,haha... but not too bad la,quite nice right? :p

Dinner at Kuala Selangor~

shaun,ken and i went kuala selangor for dinner just now... zhao cant make it quite the last minute so left 3 of us went there for the dinner... here are some pics of the place n the food :b

"oh jian" a.k.a. fried oyster... erm... shud call this hot pan oyster instead since the oysters are not fried,haha...

fried "tong fun"...we ordered this instead of white rice... tasted not bad =)

butter "lai liu har"...some big fat "lai liu har" that we cant find in kl or pj...

fried sotong...quite nice also...haha...

assam fish,decorated with few lady's finger...the fish is ikan pari i tink... =x

all food are finished in the end...quite cleanly...haha...thanks to mppj,lols~ :P and all these + chinese tea only costs rm51...cheap eh? hehe.. Xp

hey all! we are back from penang edi :p had lotsa fun and ate alot there =)

Day 1~ =)
we reached penang at noon time,had some food and checked in our apartment for a short rest... later on we went to the tropical fruit farm n butterfly farm before dinner... settling down at the hawker for dinner in the evening,walking along gurney drive before we went back our apartment...wrapping up the day with a series of "chor dai ti" game...till around 3am :P

p/s: we were told that the apartment we staying in is haunted,and we found that it's true...there's a photo of a ghost i captured in the apartment...refer below for the photo...

Day 2~~ (",)

we went to penang hill...climbing our way up...roughly 5 kilometres...and conquered it in 3 hrs time...including a long break of 30min due to heavy rain that showered us all...lolz... but it was fun nevertheless... one of the most memorable n exciting experience during this penang trip :)

we met deena at night too...and also someone else who belanja us our supper :P guess who is he? the answer is below XD

Ipoh?

To all 0501PE1! Pui Yeen is leaving at 29th of August. She is currently in KL and is due to return to Ipoh da weekend before the 29th. Pui Yeen and I suggest that we have a trip to Ipoh on the 24-26th of August. We can either drive dere or take bus dere but if we take bus dere it'll be hard to move ard. She said we can stay in her hse during our visit there. Our activity dere is basically go dere makan 99 and hang out ard dere n kacau Pui Yeen before she leaves for US. If anybody has any ideas of dropping by anywhere to lepak during this trip, pls suggest as well.

P.S. Pui Yeen wont be able to join any trip during Sept.

Singapore and Penang Trip

hey people... how's everyone? XD

Anyways,our august penang trip has failed since most of us are unable to make it sometime this month. But Jo is planning a Singapore trip next month on September,where we will be staying at her place and travel across Singapore one or two of the days. As Zhao's last paper will be on the 7th September(Friday),if possible,we try make of as early as possible after the 7th,probably from the 8th September till the 10th September? Suggestions needed from all of you,thank =)

And also,I will try to plan a Penang trip somewhere mid-late September as a replacement for the previous one. Hopefully by then all of you will be able to make it even though it's like 1-2weeks away after the Singapore trip,as most of us will be leaving back to UK end of September.
Suggestions needed as well. thanks again.. :)

hey people!!

since most people are interested in going to penang for the food there...so we are planning a penang trip in august(most likely since puiyeen will be going back to US on the 29th of august).

our current plan is to make it on the 10th-12th(friday to sunday) august,which is like 2 weeks from now since the 3rd n 4th weeek of august,quite a number of people will not be able to make it.

we will need quick reply from all of you,can or cannot,and suggestions of where to stay,transports,etc...

make this happen oso la...for nice FOOD!!! :D

Surprised Birthday Celebration for Keat Wei

well...this blog is severely lacked of updates lately XD here is one :P

18th july,renyin mentioned about a plan to surprise keatwei on her birthday(19th july) at night,since keatwei has no plan celebrating her birthday(i think,haha),and so...although it is kind of a late decision(left 1 day to plan everything),we managed to make it a success one :D

those who managed to make it for this surprise birthday celebration are me,ry,shaun,ken,zhao,jq,lehong and kimhong. 6 of us(lehong and kimhong going there themselves) met at shaun's house at 8.30pm,the timing was unexpectedly good,keatwei sent me the map when i just arrived shaun's place shortly,and yeah,managed to get there without much trouble with the help of the printed map XD

so...we rang the door bell,and haha,she didn expect it i guess? :P we looked around her house for a while,and played cards while waiting for lehong and kimhong. we had some cakies oso,baked by keatwei and her sis the night before. the cake is nice la,keatwei,hahaha...dun say till ur cakie so cham XD lehong n kimhong reached not very long later,hahaa...and we started the simple birthday celebration. birthday song --> birthday wish --> birthday candles blowing --> birthday candle removing(with lips of course,as usual =P) --> birthday cake cutting XD it's a small cakie i got for her,so...not much were left in the end,a bit different from other times,normally quite alot of leftover wan,haha...

after that we went for a short walk and ended up at a playground,a very new one,lols~ kind of different from the playgrounds during our time,haha... lepak there for quite sometime and it's already 11pm,then we decided to go back. that's the end of the surprising birthday celebration,not much events,but hopefully a meaningful one for keatwei XD

1st of all, when to go..

I suggest either the 1st weekend or the 2nd weekend of July, which are 6,7,8th (friday, sat, sun) or 13,14,15th (friday, sat, sun).

Normal night and everything, suddenly i saw 1 lame cockroach crawling into my nottingham room.. then it crawled to jieqiang's and waiken's room.. watch the drama below... worth watching..and make sure you turn on your speakers. You should really listen to the conversations. Seetho and I were filming the drama.. you can hear our distorted voices..haha.

that a bowl of mihun soup or some soup
only costed 50 cents at the school

went to some sundry shop near the

outside our schools so that we can buy

cream and we would play games like
monopoly, uno, old maid, and all other
card games like that...

another fun time would be during
Pendidikan Jasmani. the boys would
play football while the girls would

netball... and it would be like we were
playing in the world cup...

but of course. the best would be main
guli, batu seremban, bottlecaps, ice-
cream sticks, 'Pepsi Cola one-two-
three', Cops and Robbers, main kejar-
kejar duduk.. and for the not so
active,
those kind of 'book games' where we
would use buku latihan to draw and ask
our friends to play...

do you remember the ice-cream tubes
which are actually ice and colouring
that
are sold for 10 to 20 cents.. the
colourful
ones.. where you usually bite off the
top
to glup it down...

what about days when we felt like doing
naughty things such as folding papers
so small to make 'lastik' amd shoot
each other... how about throwing
chalks??

back then, micheal jackson was just
turning white.. and still had albums
coming out.. compared to CD's, we were
listening to tapes that sold for
RM9.90...

in computer class, we were still using
black and white computer moniters..
played 'Atari'... maybe SEGA or
NINTENDO...

well, are we all getting older or what?

1) if you understand what you have read
and you are smiling...

2) we have friends from school that are
already married...

3) we shake our heads everytime we
see high school students fussing about
their handphones in school..

4) we don't hang on phone with our
friends for hours a day talking about
nothing...

5) when we meet back with our friends
from time to time, we feel excited and

funny 'adventures' or stories that we
experienced as a kid..

6) last but not least, that when you
read this, you would think of all the
happy & sad memories that you have
experienced when you were still a kid
and would think of forwarding this to
your old friends that you have known
since forever... i'm sure they would
have a huge smile on their face after
reading this.....

1month hols is almost over,1day left~

went for 3weeks vacation in malaysia...reunion with my family,met my friends,visited some places,tasted so so so many kinds of food-from those insignificance ones from the market to those famous ones around penang =P

Badminton was okay,finally i can sweat alot :b

Swenson's earthquake was nice,cheap and delicious~ Movie at 1U was quite good..

Penang trip was awesome...slept for 9hrs total in 3 nights...hehe.. Ate quite alot around here n there.. Shopping was okay.. Looking at the map is not interesting.. Walking along the beach is relaxing.. Presents buying n exchanging was our main event for the x'mas eve nite.. Going home was not fun! xD

New year countdown at 1U was great too.. Great meeting up those i have not seen for quite some time.. Photohunt was normal.. Countdown time was very crowded.. The spray is smelly =_= Going home was sad..

Flew back to UK on the 2nd jan,flight was terrible...plane was shaking almost the whole journey -.- Landing was scary.. Sitting in the tube is boring.. Reach shaun's place finally in the evening..

Table tennis was fun.. Birthday in London is nothing.. Museum visiting was kind of interesting.. Japanese dinner was very very filling.. Waiting for them to wake up is a waste of time :b

Came back to warwick today (6th jan 2007).. Walked in the rain while pulling the luggage was tiring.. No shuttle service today was a surprise.. Took a bus back to my room from the main campus is a waste of $.. The rise of the bus fare is NO GOOD..

lol...well... time to study edi...1more day left for me to prepare for exam @_@ more updates later on :b

Christmas Formal

Hey again everyone,

Every college has its own fomal hall. Sort of similar to the Harry Potter Great Hall. Magdalene's one is paticularly famous because it is fully candle lit. Some college's formal hall looks like a modern canteen with fluorescent lights and everything. =.=". No class at all... LOL! ANd the Magdalene dinner is really cheap at the hall.. only GBP 3.75 because it is heavily subsidised by our college. So if anyone of you guys come over, it's worth attending one formal hall dinner.

Okay, at the end of November, our college organised Christmas dinners in the formal hall. Here are a few photos, so you guys can see the candle lit atmosphere and all..

Oops.. thats a picture of the Christmas dessert that they served (half eaten... hehe). They only allow us to take photos towards the end of the dinner, so no photos of the main meal... sorry.. =(

This is the cockerel placed in the hall of Jesus College. According to our friend from Jesus, it is worth 3 million pounds because it was stolen from an African tribe. Haha...3 million pounds. If you try and steal it, armed police will come.

And this is the horse in Jesus College. The rules say that you can ride it but you can't step on the lawn. O.o....put some planks and hop across...haha

In Trinity College: The famous Sir Isaac Newton. I heard that the whole apple-dropping-on-his-head story is actually a myth though.

The Bridge of Sighs. I heard a few different myths about the origin of its name. Cambridge is a place full of funny stories..don't really know what to believe. Was it called Bridge of Sighs because the prisoners always walked past it and sighed as they went along? Shirley, Arun, Ashok...help....! Hehe...I don't remember.

St. John's New Court...the second largest and richest college in Cambridge. Oh..it was rumoured that Harry Potter was filmed somewhere here...but I heard that the actual place was actually in Oxford.

Oh....Most of the pictures were taken on a day after term when a few of us finally found time to tour Cambridge. Yeah I know that to properly tour the university only 2 months after being a student there is sad. Lol..And I just realised that I don't have any pictures of my own college. I'll take more pictures when I get back... =p Well, Shaun, Le Hong and Samuel just got back from there. Post...!

Well, it's freezing cold here. It's worse than being in a fridge. Seriously. And I do miss hanging out with you all back in Malaysia. Niwayz, have fun everyone! Treasure the sunshine. If you are back home. Hope to see you all again soon. =p

Sir Ernest Rutherford, President of the Royal Academy, and Noble Prize winner in Physics, relates the following story circa 1915:

Some time ago I received a call from a colleague. He was about to give a student a zero for his answer to a physics question, while the student claimed a perfect score. The instructor and the student agreed to an impartial arbiter, and I was selected.

I read the examination question: "Show how it is possible to determine the height of a tall building with the aid of a barometer." The student had answered: "Take the barometer to the top of the building, attach a long rope to it, lower it to the street, and then bring it up, measuring the length of the rope. The length of the rope is the height of the building."

The student really had a strong case for full credit since he had really answered the question completely and correctly! On the other hand, if full credit were given, it could well contribute to a high grade in his physics course and certify competence in physics, but the answer did not confirm this.

I suggested that the student have another try. I gave the student six minutes to answer the question with the warning that the answer should show some knowledge of physics. At the end of five minutes, he hadn't written anything. I asked if he wished to give up, but he said he had many answers to this problem; he was just thinking of the best one. I excused myself for interrupting him and asked him to please go on.

In the next minute, he dashed off his answer, which read: "Take the barometer to the top of the building and lean over the edge of the roof. Drop the barometer, timing its fall with a stopwatch. Then, using the formula x= 0.5*a*t^2, calculate the height of the building." At this point, I asked my colleague if he would give up. He conceded, and gave the student almost full credit.

While leaving my colleague's office, I recalled that the student had said that he had other answers to the problem, so I asked him what they were."Well," said the student, "there are many ways of getting the height of a tall building with the aid of a barometer.

For example, you could take the barometer out on a sunny day and measure the height of the barometer, the length of its shadow, and the length of the shadow of the building, and by the use of simple proportion, determine the height of the building."

"Fine," I said, "and others?"

"Yes," said the student, "there is a very basic measurement method you will like. In this method, you take the barometer and begin to walk up the stairs. As you climb the stairs, you mark off the length of the barometer along the wall. You then count the number of marks, and this will give you the height of the building in barometer units." "A very direct method."

"Of course. If you want a more sophisticated method, you can tie the barometer to the end of a string, swing it as a pendulum, and determine the value of g [gravity] at the street level and at the top of the building. From the difference between the two values of g, the height of the building, in principle, can be calculated."

"On this same tack, you could take the barometer to the top of the building, attach a long rope to it, lower it to just above the street, and then swing it as a pendulum. You could then calculate the height of the building by the period of the precession".

"Finally," he concluded, "there are many other ways of solving the problem. Probably the best," he said, "is to take the barometer to the basement and knock on the superintendent's door. When the superintendent answers, you speak to him as follows: 'Mr. Superintendent, here is a fine barometer. If you will tell me the height of the building, I will give you this barometer."

At this point, I asked the student if he really did not know the conventional answer to this question. He admitted that he did, but said that he was fed up with high school and college instructors trying to teach him how to think.

The name of the student was Niels Bohr." (1885-1962) Danish Physicist; Nobel Prize 1922; best known for proposing the first 'model' of the atom with protons and neutrons, and various energy states of the surrounding electrons -- the familiar icon of the small nucleus circled by three elliptical orbits ... but more significantly, an innovator in Quantum Theory.

A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A small rabbit saw the crow, and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?"

The crow answered: "Sure, why not."

So, the Rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Soon, he was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.

Moral of the story: Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold,the bird froze and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on it. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, it began to realize how warm it was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate.

Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him!

The morals of this story are:
1) Not everyone who drops shit on you is your enemy.
2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.

Well...since noone seems to be willing to post about nottingham games here and since im wayyyyy to bored now...ill do a lil update on this pretty dead blog :)

err....sorry i cant really remember when was the notts game but i tot u nottingham ppl might wanna see the campus u guys r goin to study in in the near future.. and its HUGE!!!!
pity u guys have to walk so far to cls this n that... n there is a bus transport system operating inside the campus itself ... shows how big is the campus

Hey all!!

Time flies,i've been here in University of Warwick for almost 6 weeks already! Life here still as usual...wake up,breakfast,lectures/classes,lunch,lectures,classes,dinner,online,do homework,study, and sleep; some badminton and frisbee within the busy weeks for relaxing too; not forgetting weekly tesco visit to restock food n daily needs :p

Lectures are ok these few weeks. Started to get on track already,managed to complete my weekly assignments n homeworks with helps from seniors,reference to textbooks,and discussing n solve together with my fren. But still lots of questionmarks in the 2 main core modules,analysis and foundations,have to spend more time on these 2 modules already >_<

As for tests,biweekly foundation tests (done two so far),survived both,luck was with me for the two tests :P ; vector n matrices 1st test,contributes 35% to the final marks,i did well for it,since its all covered in A-level syllabus; the 3 parts that i failed during the 1st week diagnostic test,i retook and scored full for both inequalities and trigonometry test,the resit paper were easier though...lol...

Weather is getting very cold lately,grasslands are covered by ice in the morning,quite cool scene,but it is not obvious in photograph,so...ignore it. Walking a long distance to and from classes is getting more difficult,cold and dry air,ended up with...nose bleeding sometimes,and hands have to be kept in my pocket all time,or else will be pain >_<>

After a month stucked in this university,finally we went out today,to the nearest town here,Coventry,for some shopping. Mainly,to get more winter clothings and restock our food...hehehe :P Got some stuff for myself,including another jacket,to survive the freezing weather. Outing,or should say shopping was quite fun for the 1st time,since after form4,haha...guys,you all will know this when you are alone overseas and when the exchange rate is....7 times @_@ carried alot of stuffs back (not all mine,got another 2 gurl's stuff),hands exhausted,extreme weight >_<

Overall,life here is great with few close friends around :) At least won't feel very homesick...hehe :P 5 more weeks and i'll be back to malaysia for the winter vacation,can't wait to meet my family,frens n u guys,who're still in malaysia. Well,its almost 12am now,haha...need go study bit and get some rest soon,3rd test of foundations on friday,wish that the luck still with me...haha...

Hey all~ with so many updates on PE1 peoples’ life in United Kingdom. Here’s an update right here in Malaysia! Wo0t!

Happy Celebration Day (Hari Raya) was just a few days ago and our not forgotten class rep. had an open house! All hands for our great host! Tada!!

The movie we watched was “What The Crap!” XD;;

It’s seriously a touching movie. Since it’s based on a true story, I would recommend this to all. WTC, a story about hope, determination, survival and most of all love, be sure you catch this wonderful movie, “World Trade Centre”. Yep! I was just pulling your legs before. xP I learned from the rest that day. Hehe.

So here’s what we did before the movie.

There’s an observatory in CINELEISURE. I was cheated by Jieqiang that the whole thing could collapse once you step onto it. That’s why I step in later after I know it was secure. Evil… XD;;

Now, check out this pretty background. The best place to take a picture, wouldn’t you say?

Jieqiang was dared to carry a ladies’ handbag with the help from Keat Wei and Yen Ying. He carried two! Wo0t!

So the HSBC guy said "OK, let's make another test. Let's make this elephant cry".

So there they went again.

phew~ another week down...finally~ @.@ summaries of the week here...haha:-

struggled n finished my assignments(due on monday) on sunday,simply crapped something for those questions i dunno :b

went to resit the online integration test on monday,things didn't went well,technical problem + careless mistakes,failed to reach pass mark of 80% =,= hafta resit again some day....aiks...

tuesday,an ordinary day,3hours of lectures and nothing else... started to work with my new assignment of the week,17questions...from week1 7questions increases to week2 14 questions n this week 17...swtz~

total free day on wednesday,no lectures,nothing...went to play frisbee from 2-4pm,fun but stil not used to doing outdoor sports here,breathing cold air,my cough came back >.<

thursday,another normal day,lectures,supervision sessions n classes,nothing much,more homework for the week @_@ slept at 9pm at night,haha...record of sleeping early since i arrived here :p

test day,friday(10weeks term,only 2 weeks got no test on friday),classes n lectures from 9am-3pm non-stop,took my lunch in class...lols~ then test for vector n matrices,went well,got all correct,yeah~ ^^ and online since 5.30pm till now (1am).

haha...hafta go get sum rest d...week3 ending soon~ 7more weeks to go...and i will be bac to m'sia for hols for 3weeks,looking forward that already...heh.. see you guys who r in m'sia then =) takecare all...nites~

Initially, both of them are a happy couple:

Budden one day, C2 misunderstood Hafriz when he saw:

Obviously, it was a misunderstanding. C2 tot Hafriz chose a more feminine like "guy" over7 him. So,

!xoseetho cried day and nite

To ease his pain,

he chose dis as a solution.

As a result,

He got drunk big time.

And so, Hafriz confronted !xoseetho and explained about the incident. That man/woman/watsoever in pink he took pic was his old skootmate. They made up and

They are happily together again (in uncle type of pants sumore =.="")
